MURAL DEDICATION –AUGUST 29
The official dedication of the new ArtWorks mural, What’s Happening Downtown, will take place Friday, August 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be music and food as well as a cash bar. FINAL FRIDAY GALLERY WALK –AUGUST 29
The Pendleton Art Studios are open for a gallery walk Friday, August 29 from 6 to 10 p.m. Encore! Art Celebrating Music and the Musical Heritage of Cincinnati is the current theme. Visitors will be treated to live music and get to see works of art from over 150 artists. ROBIN EUBANKS AT THE BLUE WISP –AUGUST 29
World class trombonist, Robin Eubanks will be performing with his trio at the Blue Wisp Friday, August 29. Robin Eubanks is the brother of the Tonight Show’s band leader Kevin Eubanks. Fountain Square has a weekend of events planned for you, so stop by and you’re sure to find something. Friday night hosts the Indie concert series from 7 to 10 p.m. Performers include Wussy, Nathan Holscher and Tonefarmer. Saturday enjoy Gospel music performed live from 3 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, August 31, listen to smooth Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., then watch the WEBN/Cincinnati Bell Fireworks at 9 p.m. live on the LED board on the Square. DOWNTOWN YARD SALE AT CITY CELLARS –AUGUST 30
From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 30, visit City Cellars and buy, sell or trade yard sale items with other downtown residents. There will be food, entertainment and adult beverages available as well. All are welcome to attend and no registration is necessary. However, yard sale vendors are required to remove any unsold items at the end of the sale. SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK -AUGUST 30
This is the last chance to enjoy Shakespeare in the Park this summer. This week’s venue is Eden Park. The play will begin at 7 p.m. transforming the park into an imaginative wonderland that captivates and delights audiences of all ages with the beautiful language of Shakespeare. RUBBERDUCK REGATTA –AUGUST 31
Enjoy the nation’s longest running rubber duck race Sunday, August 31 at 3 p.m. Over 85,000 rubber ducks will be dropped from the Purple People Bridge for the chance to win a Honda Fit Sport. The duck drop will occur from the Purple People Bridge. Proceeds from duck purchases benefit the FreeStore Foodbank. For more information visit http://www.freestorefoodbank.org.
RIVERFEST WEBN/CINCINNATI BELL FIREWORKS –AUGUST 31
Riverfest begins at noon Sunday, August 31. Entertainment can be found along the riverbank. Music performances will take place at the Serpentine Wall and P&G Pavilion. Visitors will be treated to music, food, entertainment and family fun all day long. End summer with a bang by watching the Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks Sunday, August 31. The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. Riverfest will take place at Sawyer Point/Yeatman’s Cove.
RIVERFEST PARKING/TRAFFIC DETAILS -AUGUST 31
With over a quarter of a million people expected to watch the Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks, it’s good to know where to park. The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. All streets north of Third Street will be open to vehicular traffic. Garages north of Third Street will also be open. However, there will be no on-street parking south of Court Street after 11 a.m. Sunday. Additionally, the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge, Suspension Bridge, Purple Pedestrian Bridge and the Taylor Southgate Bridge will all close at 6:00 PM to all traffic. WALKING IN THEIR SHOES, CHARLOTTE AND BOB OTTO
Former DCI chair and emeritus board member, Charlotte Otto and her husband Bob were featured in a story published by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation entitled Walking in Their Shoes. The Otto’s traveled to remote areas of China visiting P&G Hope Schools. P&G has built over 100 Hope Schools in northern China.
