Cincinnati - a major transportation hub for the Midwest
Cincinnati is a major transportation hub for the Midwest. The city and its surrounding areas are served by the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), located across the river in Kentucky. This airport is the second largest hub for Delta and the largest for Comair. The city also has three other smaller airports, Lunken Airport, Cincinnati West Airport and the Blue Ash Airport.
Getting around in Cincinnati is made easier by the Metro city bus system, operated by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, and the rail service by Amtrak that originates at the Cincinnati Union Terminal. The Cincinnati area has several major interstate highways that run through it. Interstate 75 is a north-south highway through the Mill Creek valley, Interstate 71 travels northeast and Interstate 74 connects to Indiana. Cincinnati is in the process of creating a streetcar line to connect several neighborhoods throughout the city - Downtown, Over-the-Rhine (a historic district) and the area around University of Cincinnati. The first line is expected to be ready by 2009.
